Moonlight, Skylight: alabaster, light, and emotion at Alcova Miami 2025

At Alcova Miami 2025, Moonlight, Skylight unites the work of Franck Genser and Tonester Paints in an immersive installation that merges material, light, and emotion into a meditative environment. The space layers carved alabaster, sculptural geometry, atmospheric lighting, and shifting tonal blues, evoking the horizon between land, sea, and sky. The installation explores contrasts, solidity and softness, mass and movement, shadow and illumination—creating a harmonious dialogue between elements. Alabaster emits a gentle mineral glow, wood adds warmth, and colour washes the space in serene depth.

The atmosphere is enriched by paintings from Miami-based Colombian-American artist Nicolle Cure, whose ethereal, layered works, Pastel Indigo 1, Pastel Indigo 3, and Azure Terra—extend the installation's emotional register. Her compositions, blending fluid brushwork and translucent washes, act as portals into rhythm and reflection, amplifying the contemplative nature of the space.

Highlighted Works by Franck Genser:

  • Basketball Wall Sconce: Carved alabaster sphere in black steel; emits diffuse, meditative light.
  • Cascade Finie: Vertical alabaster ribbon resembling flowing water; reveals natural mineral patterns.
  • Cube Trio: Three stacked alabaster blocks; architectural, rhythmic, and softly illuminated.
