When singer and actress Rachel Stevens moved into her Victorian home in North London, updating the bathroom was a priority. The old bathroom was rundown, with only a basic shower, basin, and WC.

Working with luxury bathroom studio Ripples, Stevens transformed the space into a serene, boutique-hotel-inspired sanctuary while keeping it family-friendly. The layout remained largely the same, but a slight build-out on the back wall created an arched niche above a freestanding bath, a central design feature that adds depth and character.
Warm neutrals, layered lighting, and marble-effect tiles give the room a cocooning feel, while brassware details add subtle luxury. Key elements include the freestanding bath, wall-hung WC, and textured finishes that make the compact space feel larger and more inviting.
Stevens describes her biggest splurge as the main sanitaryware and brass fittings, while the marble-effect tiles were a cost-effective choice that still delivers impact. The project required careful timing, as Stevens was also renovating her dressing room simultaneously.
The result is a graceful, timeless bathroom that balances comfort, personality, and elegance—a perfect example of thoughtful luxury design in a small space.
