Quiet confidence has become a defining quality in today's interior landscape. Rather than chasing novelty, brands that prioritise clarity of purpose, material integrity, and long-term relevance are gaining ground across the European market. The Jakobsen Copenhagen brand sits firmly within this movement, offering an upholstered furniture collection that speaks through restraint, balance, and thoughtful design choices. For the company, shaping the future of interiors means returning to essentials and refining them for contemporary life. Niels Kristian Noergaard, Chief Commercial Officer of Jakobsen Copenhagen, reflects on a year of progress and outlines how the brand continues to evolve with intention. As Niels puts it, 'we believe good design should feel natural, not forced'.

A milestone year launching Jakobsen Copenhagen
For the company behind the Jakobsen Home upholstered furniture collection since 1975, 2025 marked a defining chapter with the launch of its exclusive Jakobsen Copenhagen brand. Inspired by the spirit of Denmark's capital, the range brings together simplicity, elegance, and everyday functionality. 'The new collection captures the essence of Copenhagen, timeless Danish design combined with modern craftsmanship,' Niels explains. The positive response from customers and retail partners has reinforced the brand's direction. 'The warm reception confirmed that there is a strong demand for furniture that balances heritage with contemporary living,' he adds.
Beyond the launch itself, the year strengthened the company's position as a recognisable Scandinavian voice in the European market. 'We have seen our Danish identity increasingly recognised and appreciated,' Niels shares, emphasising that authenticity remains central to the brand's appeal.
Craftmanship, partnerships, and resilience
Among the achievements of the past year, bringing the Copenhagen collection to life stands out as a source of pride. 'We are most proud of creating a collection that truly reflects our design philosophy, beautiful, functional, and built to last,' says Niels. At the same time, this has deepened the relationships with key European retailers. 'Strong partnerships are essential, they allow our products and values to reach the right audiences,' he explains.
Like many manufacturers, the company also faced supply chain challenges, particularly when sourcing high quality materials. Rather than compromising, collaboration and flexibility have been key. 'By working closely with trusted suppliers and adjusting production schedules, we maintained both quality and reliability,' Niels notes. The experience proved valuable. 'It reminded us that careful craftsmanship and attention to detail are worth protecting, even when conditions are challenging'.

Designing for conscious consumers
Looking towards 2026, the priorities are clearly defined. Expanding the Jakobsen Copenhagen collection across Europe remains a key focus, alongside more deliberate storytelling. 'We want people to understand the ideas and care behind each piece,' says Niels. According to him, furniture today must communicate more than function. 'Consumers want to connect with brands that reflect their values'.
This shift is already visible in purchasing behaviour. 'People are increasingly looking for furniture that is sustainable, well made, and has a story,' Niels observes. Versatility and durability have become essential attributes, especially in modern homes. 'Consumers are drawn to pieces that adapt easily and remain relevant over time,' he adds.
Sustainability as a long-term commitment
Sustainability is not treated as a trend but as a foundation for product development. 'It is at the heart of everything we do,' Niels states. From responsible material choices to designs intended to last for years, the brand prioritises longevity over short term appeal. 'With control over the full process from design to finished product, we ensure consistency across quality and responsibility. Our goal is to create furniture that is both beautiful and responsibly made,' he explains.
As the brand continues to grow across European markets where Scandinavian design is valued, its message remains focused and confident. 'The Copenhagen collection is more than furniture,' Niels concludes. 'It reflects our belief in blending Danish tradition with modern living, creating interiors that last and that people genuinely love.'
