La-Z-Boy Inc has confirmed that it will close its UK manufacturing facility in Colne, the former Furnico unit acquired in 2021, following a consultation period that began on October 29.

Despite suggestions from employees during the consultation, the company concluded that none were sufficient to secure the plant's future commercial viability. Operations at La-Z-Boy Manufacturing UK Ltd will gradually wind down, with production set to cease by the end of the current fiscal year in April 2026.
The company acknowledged the impact on employees and their families, committing to provide outplacement support and redundancy packages. La-Z-Boy emphasised that its UK business will continue, with wholesale supply for the UK and Ireland maintained through its global manufacturing network. The decision to close the facility was driven by weak market demand, as the UK manufacturing arm has faced consistently low order volumes over the past two years, significantly affecting operational costs.
