Ikea is adapting to changing shopping habits and global economic pressures by expanding beyond traditional stores. Over the past five years, IKEA (Ingka Group) has grown from around 375 stores to over 640 locations worldwide, including major openings in Oxford Street (London), Seoul, Shanghai, and New Zealand, along with 29 new collection points.

The company is piloting smaller local stores in the UK, US, and Poland, which are cheaper to operate and focus on everyday convenience. IKEA is also expanding online through partnerships like its store on JD.com in China and a Best Buy pilot in the US for kitchen and storage planning.
These initiatives aim to improve accessibility, meet customers in more locations, and balance physical and digital retail for long-term growth.
