Ukrainian Neofolklore at Maison & Objet 2026

Galerie Sana Moreau is delighted to present its exhibition, "Ukrainian Neofolklore: An Aesthetic of Cultural Resilience", at Maison & Objet 2026, reflecting one of this season's key themes: Neo-Folk.

The exhibition will showcase a diverse selection of 20 Ukrainian designers and artists, whose works reinterpret ancestral symbols and craft traditions through a contemporary lens. Their creations celebrate resilience, freedom, and creative renewal, transforming heritage into a vibrant, forward-looking design language.

Curatorial concept
Sana Moreau, the exhibition curator, presents Ukraine as a multilayered cultural territory divided into four elements—Earth, Wind, Fire, Water—serving as interpretative keys for Ukrainian neofolklore. Neo-folklore is not decorative nostalgia or ethnographic revival; it is a philosophy of creative resistance and a cultural language rooted in tradition. Ukrainian designers continually evolve this language, reimagining ancient symbols, craft techniques, and natural archetypes while integrating modernist influences, from archaic motifs to Ukrainian boho-funk.

Highlighted works

Decorative Floor Vase "Love" / Кохання – Maryna Pupcha
Dimensions: H 110 cm × W 60 cm | Materials: Five-layer cardboard frame, sheep wool rugs
Handcrafted in a limited edition, this monumental vase combines motifs from Kosiv ceramics and traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs with vibrant wool textures. Pupcha's playful ethno-boho-funk style transforms folk culture into a bold, contemporary statement.

Gonta Collection Vases – Andriy and Olesya Voznicki
Dimensions: H 62 cm | Materials: Clay, glaze, reclaimed oak
The Voznickis aim to imitate and reinterpret nature through ceramics and wooden inlays salvaged from old Carpathian homes, reflecting traditional roof designs and rural craftsmanship.

This selection offers just a glimpse of the exhibition. Visitors are invited to explore the full range of contemporary Ukrainian neofolklore at Maison & Objet 2026.
