Dave Boddy, Product Manager at Abode, identifies three key trends shaping basins, baths, and shower spaces next year:

1. Off-white sanitaryware
Next year, white will no longer dominate the bathroom. Shades of grey—from dark charcoal to soft light grey—are becoming the preferred choice for basins and baths. Grey sanitaryware works harmoniously with brassware, furniture, and accessories, offering flexibility for bold statements or subtle contrasts within bathroom décor. This shift highlights the bathroom itself as a source of colour and personality, moving beyond furniture alone.

2. Textural layering
Texture is emerging as a critical design element, engaging both sight and touch. Fluted designs, grooved wall panelling, and knurled lever handles bring tactile depth, while natural materials like metal and stone add a grounded, organic feel. Textural contrast enriches the space, balancing smooth surfaces of basins, baths, and tiles with intricate details for a more personal and immersive environment. Fluted elements, in particular, are forecasted as a top choice for 2026.

3. Focus on finish
Bathroom design next year will celebrate finishes, reflecting personal style and current interior trends such as Japandi and Biophilic design. Tap and shower designs will emphasise tactile, visually striking surfaces in polished, brushed, or antique options. Brass remains a classic choice, now paired with matt black or white for contemporary flair. Gunmetal, with its subtle charcoal-blue undertones, emerges as a new favourite for a sleek, industrial aesthetic, especially when paired with modern grey sanitaryware.
