Southern Jutland-based wholesaler exits US warehouse following sharp profit decline

A Southern Jutland-based wholesaler, has closed its US warehouse after earnings fell sharply in the 2024/25 financial year. The company reported a profit of DKK 8.4 million, down from DKK 40.3 million the previous year.

CEO of the company, Unique Furniture, Jacob Lyngsø attributed the decline primarily to currency fluctuations, noting the US dollar fell over 8% against the Danish krone during the year. Rising freight rates and tariffs also added pressure on the company's US operations. Unique Furniture had previously maintained limited currency hedging.

In response, the company will shift from operating a US warehouse to direct container sales, a model used in its other international markets. Lyngsø described the transition as challenging but expressed confidence in the new approach.

Despite the profit drop, Unique Furniture anticipates a stronger financial year ahead, projecting growth and improved earnings. The company employs around 160 staff across Europe, the US, and Asia, with operations focused on supply chain efficiency and global distribution.
