The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has found a sleep company in England's mattress promotion misleading following a complaint by Simba Sleep Ltd. The offer, titled "2 Free Pillows or Discount," presented a mattress priced at £799.99 alongside two options: receive two free pillows or a £75 discount.

Otty Sleep argued the reference price reflected an established pricing model in place since March 2025, and the word "free" clarified that pillows were optional. Sales data submitted by Otty did not clearly distinguish between purchases with pillows and those with the discount. Evidence on prior pricing was also incomplete.
The ASA concluded that £799.99 was not the genuine usual selling price, as most customers purchased the mattress for £724.99 or less. Without proof that the higher price had been the standard, the claimed £75 saving was deemed misleading.
Otty has since removed the references to "free" pillows and the crossed-out price from its website. The ASA instructed the company to ensure future adverts accurately reflect genuine savings and that reference prices are demonstrably established.
