Antoon Vanderschelden, founder of furniture manufacturer Perfecta, has passed away at the age of 89. With his passing, the Belgian furniture and wood sector loses a leading entrepreneur who helped shape the professional furnishing and furniture industry since 1960.
Vanderschelden founded Perfecta in 1960 and grew the company into a solid family business with a strong presence both in Belgium and abroad. Under his leadership, Perfecta developed into a fully integrated manufacturer, with metalworking, carpentry, upholstery, and assembly all taking place at a single site. This approach ensured short delivery times, flexibility, and consistently high quality standards.
Today, Perfecta has approximately 40,000 m² of production space, employs around 130 people, and generates an annual turnover of about €20 million. Approximately 25 percent of its production is destined for export. The company supplies furniture retailers, specialized bed stores, project furnishers, and office furniture distributors.
In addition to his entrepreneurial career, Vanderschelden was also socially active. He was a Knight in the Order of the Crown, a reserve lieutenant, a former Justice Knight O.S.J., and a former chairman of the Church Council in Gavere.
With the passing of Antoon Vanderschelden, the sector loses an entrepreneur who combined craftsmanship, continuity, and business acumen. Interior Unie and Meubihome extend their sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
