Furniture company acquires Paustian Danish design house to relaunch online

M Office has acquired the rights to the Danish design house Paustian, which will now operate as an independent online-only business. The acquisition aims to rebuild the brand and re-establish relationships with former suppliers, leveraging Paustian's well-known designer furniture collections.

Paustian, which filed for bankruptcy on 23 August 2025, reported claims of DKK 37.5 million. This followed a previous bankruptcy in 2024, when debts exceeded 120 million kroner. Despite a relaunch and new investment from then-owner Frantz Longhi, financial difficulties persisted.

Under M Office, Paustian will no longer be constrained by costly retail premises, focusing entirely on the e-commerce market. The new owner, already active in office furniture and interior design solutions for the B2B sector, plans to operate the online Paustian alongside its existing business.

Curator Anders Bendtsen confirmed that work is ongoing to secure production agreements with designers holding rights to Paustian's signature furniture lines. The acquisition provides M Office with a direct platform to reach consumers and revive the brand's reputation.

The company's CEO, Per Laustsen, was not immediately available for comment. M Office emphasises that it does not consider the Paustian brand to be defunct and sees potential for a sustainable relaunch through online operations.

This marks the latest chapter in Paustian's storied history, as the iconic Danish design house seeks to transition from physical retail to a digitally focused business model.
