Pascal Mannekens on global innovation Synchroflex:

'Success and inclusivity in collections depend on expertise in bedding stores'

At Furniture Fair Brussels 2025, the world premiere of the innovative Synchroflex 2026 sleep system, comprising a mattress and slatted base, took place. This patented system was developed through close collaboration between the French brand Technilat, international design teams, and Belgian physiotherapist and ergonomics expert Pascal Mannekens. Synchroflex is a brand of Technilat, one of France's largest manufacturers of sleep comfort products and part of the Finadorm Group, which has been active in the furniture and sleep sector for over 40 years.

"What makes Synchroflex 2026 unique is that it is self-regulating," explains Pascal Mannekens. "It adjusts automatically, regardless of body shape, weight, height, or sleeping position. Thanks to the innovative translation and spring system at the base of the slatted frame, pressure is evenly distributed across the sleeping surface. This provides optimal back support, which is essential for a healthy night's sleep."

Innovative technology and use of materials
The 2026 collection combines a foam-sprung mattress with an advanced slatted base construction. The base features hinged lath holders, steel springs, and fibreglass and aluminium slats. "This combination provides a 100% resilient sleeping surface. The spring tension is adjustable, with softer springs used in the shoulder zone, for example," says Mannekens. Additionally, the mattress is made of Aquacell comfort foam, which is as elastic as Talalay latex and ventilates eight times more effectively than standard foam. The cover is made of Tencel and contains moisture-regulating, hypoallergenic filling materials that efficiently wick away heat and moisture.

The mattress offers four symmetrical comfort zones based on BMI and a pressure-relieving shoulder zone. Thanks to its sturdy construction and high-quality materials, Synchroflex comes with a 10-year warranty on both mattress and slatted base. "In practice, the slatted base will last much longer than ten years. This guarantee provides peace of mind for both consumers and retailers," Mannekens adds.

Expertise and health
According to Mannekens, knowledge of anatomy and ergonomics is essential when selecting a suitable sleep system. "The biggest mistakes people make are buying products without understanding how they support the body. A good bed should conform to the body, offer the right firmness based on body shape, and provide optimal moisture and heat regulation."

Pascal Mannekens, also the author of Rest for Your Back, emphasises the importance of specialised retail partners. "A world first like Synchroflex can only be successfully included in collections if bedding specialists have the expertise to advise customers with the proper knowledge."

Looking to the Future
With Synchroflex 2026, Technilat aims to expand internationally, targeting markets such as the Benelux countries, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria (the DACH region). The mattress's patented self-regulating system and high-quality materials make it a forward-looking sleep concept that promotes both comfort and health. "We invite retailers and consumers to explore our products, benefit from our expertise, and read our book for a deeper understanding of back and sleep health," concludes Mannekens.

Synchroflex 2026 shows that innovation, ergonomics, and premium materials can come together to create a modern sleep experience that prioritises health and comfort.
