National bed retailer Dreams has reopened in Northampton with a new store at St James Retail Park, taking over the former Next Outlet premises, which closed in August 2025. This marks Dreams' return to the town following the closure of its previous store at Nene Valley Retail Park, which was impacted by a major fire at neighbouring home furnishings retailer Dunelm in May 2025.

The fire caused extensive damage, destroying Dunelm and forcing temporary closures at several other stores, including Pets at Home, NCF Living, Dreams, B&M, and Tapi Carpets. Redevelopment works are now underway, with the worst-hit units being fully demolished and others, including Dreams, having their roofs and front sections rebuilt.
In related news, Dreams has appointed Gemma Saunders as its new Director of People, signalling further investment in its team and operations amid the Northampton reopening.
