Melania Trump unveils White House Christmas decorations

First Lady Melania Trump has announced the 2025 White House Christmas theme, "Home Is Where the Heart Is," celebrating the warmth, love, and resilience found within America's families. The theme reflects the First Lady's personal inspiration drawn from balancing motherhood and public life. She notes, "The constant movement has taught me that home is not merely a physical space; rather, it is the warmth and comfort I carry within, regardless of my surroundings. This Christmas, let's celebrate the love we hold within ourselves, and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with grace, radiance, and endless possibilities."

Renowned designer Hervé Pierre was appointed to bring the First Lady's vision to life. The "Fostering the Future Red Room" features luminous blue butterflies, a symbol of transformation and renewal, highlighting the foster-care community, a cause Mrs. Trump has championed since 2021. A limited-edition tour booklet created by Pierre offers visitors a keepsake capturing the magic of the White House's holiday décor.

Honouring tradition, the White House is adorned with 75 signature wreaths with classic red bows, over 50 Christmas trees, 700 feet of garland, 25,000 feet of ribbon, and 10,000 butterflies, filling the halls with festive warmth. The Blue Room houses the official White House Christmas Tree, an 18-foot concolour fir from Sidney, Michigan, dedicated to Gold Star Families, with gold stars and ornaments representing the official bird and flower of every U.S. state and territory, symbolising sacrifice and resilience.

In celebration of America's 250th anniversary, patriotic displays in the East Room feature red, white, and blue décor, while the Green Room presents two presidential portraits constructed from over 6,000 puzzle pieces, encouraging family interaction and creativity.

The State Dining Room showcases the 2025 Gingerbread House, weighing over 120 pounds and artistically representing the South Portico and Yellow Oval Room. The Grand Foyer features part of the historic White House Crèche, currently undergoing careful restoration.

Through its elaborate and symbolic décor, the 2025 White House Christmas invites Americans to reflect on shared traditions, the strength of the nation, and the enduring truth that home is defined by love and connection.
