Artificial intelligence is gaining ground in Belgian enterprises

After years of focusing on connectivity and digital equipment, Belgian businesses are now moving on to the next stage, marked by the integration of artificial intelligence, cloud computing and advanced data analysis. This is what emerged from the results of the 2025 survey on ICT usage and e-commerce in enterprises[1].

Digital technology is now an integral part of the functioning of Belgian enterprises. 9 out of 10 enterprises[2] have a website to present their activities and services. 4 out of 5 enterprises use social networks and this proportion rises to 95.3% among enterprises with more than 250 employees. But Belgian enterprises are now going beyond these traditional uses.

More and more enterprises are exploiting data, automating processes and integrating artificial intelligence into their operations. This trend is particularly marked in large enterprises.

AI takes a decisive step forward
More than one company in three (34.5%) uses at least one artificial intelligence technology in 2025. This proportion rises to 3 out of 4 in enterprises with more than 250 employees, confirming that AI is becoming a strategic tool for large businesses. Technologies performing analysis of written language are among the most widespread and are used by almost a quarter of enterprises (23%).

Data and cloud computing are redefining working methods
Nearly one in two enterprises carries out data analysis in-house, and one in five uses performs it through an external service provider. 37% of enterprises perform data analysis on data from transaction records such as sale details or payments records. 27.7% of enterprises perform data analysis on data about customers, such as information about their purchases, their place of residence, their preferences, their reviews and their searches.

The rise of cloud computing is playing a central role in this development. 3 out of 5 enterprises buy cloud services, a share that rises to 9 out of 10 enterprises with more than 250 employees.

AI, cloud computing and advanced data analysis are increasingly used together. Nearly one enterprise in four (22.8%) combines these three technologies, and this proportion rises to 70% in enterprises with more than 250 employees.
