A fire broke out at Shri Sai Industries, a mattress manufacturing unit in Murmunda village under Kumhari Police Station, on Sunday night. The blaze escalated when a drum filled with chemicals exploded, causing part of the factory structure to collapse.

Firefighters struggled for three hours to bring the fire under control, deploying six fire tenders and multiple water units to tackle the flames from four sides. Despite the intensity of the fire and the structural collapse, no human casualties were reported.
The factory is owned by Ashwini Verma. Emergency services staff, including F. Praveen Bara, Dhanu Yadav, Mahendra Chandel, and Sharad Meshram, were part of the firefighting team. The police are investigating the probable causes of the outbreak.
The incident highlights the risks associated with chemical storage in manufacturing units, prompting a review of safety protocols. Authorities have yet to determine the full extent of property damage and potential financial losses.
