Shower enclosure brand Lakes has achieved B Corp certification, becoming the first manufacturer in the bathroom sector to gain the accolade. The certification recognises companies that meet rigorous standards in social and environmental responsibility, including energy use, waste management, water consumption, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency.

Lakes' accreditation covers all operations, from customer service and staff welfare to community engagement. Recent sustainability initiatives include 100% recyclable packaging, a 24% reduction in carbon emissions between 2019 and 2023, and the transition of UK operations to fully renewable energy.
The certification process also assessed Lakes' manufacturing site in Ningbo, China, making it one of the first 100 Chinese companies to earn B Corp status.
