The French Government is seeking a three-month suspension of Shein's entire website after the discovery of "childlike sex dolls" and "banned weapons" being sold on the platform. Although the fast-fashion retailer disabled its marketplace on 5 November, the section selling its own clothing remains accessible.

According to officials, the request will be presented to a Paris judge on 26 November through an accelerated judicial procedure. Infinite Styles Services Co Ltd, Shein's European operating entity, has been summoned to attend the hearing alongside the retailer's legal representatives.
The case is being pursued under Article 6.3 of France's digital economy law, which allows judges to impose measures aimed at preventing or stopping harm caused by online content. The court must also assess whether any suspension aligns with European Union law.
A Finance Ministry official stated that Shein possesses the technical and financial capability to prevent such prohibited products appearing online, adding: 'The fact is that it does not do so.' A ruling is expected in the coming weeks.
