The Chancery Rosewood: the modernist icon of Grosvenor Square rebor

From embassy to all-suite luxury hotel, the former U.S. Embassy in the heart of Mayfair has been reborn as The Chancery Rosewood, with architecture by David Chipperfield and interiors by Joseph Dirand.

For the hotel's 139 suites, Lema supplied and installed custom-made wardrobes, perfectly aligned with the refined identity of the interiors. Lema was also entrusted with the boiserie and wood panelling across the main three floors, crafted with exclusive wood textures and finishes that celebrate the quiet sophistication of Italian craftsmanship.

This project marks a major milestone for Lema. The Chancery Rosewood is the brand's third prestigious commission in Grosvenor Square, following previous collaborations on 20 Grosvenor Square and 1–3 Grosvenor Square, further reinforcing Lema's deep and enduring connection with one of London's most distinguished addresses.

On the 20th of November, His Excellency Inigo Lambertini, Ambassador of Italy to the United Kingdom, Minister Riccardo Smimmo, Deputy Ambassador of Italy in London, Mr Matteo Meroni, son of the President of Lema, Mr Michael Bonsor, General Manager of Rosewood The Chancery, and Mr Umberto Salon, Managing Director of Lema UK, gathered for a private visit to The Chancery Rosewood.

The visit became more than an inspection; it was a celebration of Italian savoir-faire, now permanently woven into the fabric of one of London's most iconic addresses.
