Russian attack damages production site of Global Textile Alliance in Ukraine

The Belgian company Global Textile Alliance reports that its Ukrainian production site in Ternopil sustained severe damage during a Russian attack on civil and industrial infrastructure in the area on the night of 18 to 19 November. The area was struck by drones and a missile. No employees of Global Textile Alliance were present at the facility at the time, and no injuries have been reported. However, reports indicate that more than 20 casualties occurred as a result of the broader attack on Ternopil.

"We can confirm that no employees were present in the facility at the time of the attack, and no injuries were reported. We are deeply grateful for that. But the local team is deeply shocked and distressed. The past couple of years, a lot of effort and commitment went into building the facility, and witnessing the destruction of their work is profoundly upsetting", declares Global Textile Alliance. Access to the factory is currently restricted, and firefighters remain on location working to extinguish fires.

Initial assessments, from the outside, indicate extensive damage to the facility. Other companies within the industrial zone were also affected, with a total of eight strikes reported on industrial buildings and surrounding civilian infrastructure. Global Textile Alliance continues to assess the full extent of the damage in coordination with local teams. The company confirms that all efforts are focused on ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the personnel and supporting the affected site.

Global Textile Alliance Ukraine is part of the Love Home Fabrics Group with its headquarters in Wielsbeke (Belgium), which operates worldwide with hubs across continents. The Ternopil facility produces fabrics for mattresses and beds and includes a cut-and-sew department. It employs 22 people. Contingency measures have been activated to ensure continuity of operations, and production from other facilities is expected to minimise any impact on customer orders.
