The move follows a severe downturn in König + Neurath König + Neurath AG, the German and European office furniture company, which has seen customers postpone purchases, leading to a dramatic drop in orders since mid-2025. A planned financing round failed, creating a liquidity crisis and prompting the restructuring initiative.
The self-administration procedure will allow the management board to remain in office while restructuring the company. Initial priorities include securing employee salaries for three months and stabilising financing to maintain production and delivery of existing orders.
CEO Steffen Schwerd and CFO Rainer Raschke emphasised the company's long-term potential, stating, 'We are convinced of our future potential as a driving force because König + Neurath possesses extensive expertise as a quality-leading and innovative office furniture pioneer.' The restructuring aims to revitalise the business model and develop it strategically, relying on the expertise and dedication of its workforce.
