Among the sectors affected are furniture and home appliances, as consumers need to trust that advertised prices and sales promotions are accurate.

CMA chief executive Sarah Cardell emphasised that shoppers buying items for their homes, including furniture, deserve fair treatment and protection against misleading pricing or automatic opt-ins for additional services. These investigations, the first under the 2024 Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act, could result in fines of up to 10% of global turnover if breaches are confirmed.
