UK furniture imports rise modestly as exports dip in September 2025

UK furniture imports in September 2025 increased slightly to £637.3m, up 0.5% from the same month in 2024, according to Big Furniture Group's analysis of trade data. Imports from the EU rose 0.6% to £309m, with Germany up 13% to £59.1m, Portugal up 30% to £5.3m, and Austria up 60% to £2.2m, while Italy and Poland saw slight declines. Non-EU imports also increased by 0.5% to £328.2m, with notable growth from Vietnam (+3%) and Ukraine (+141%), though Chinese and US imports fell.

Conversely, UK furniture exports declined 3.8% to £209.3m. European exports fell 5.1% to £101.7m, despite increases to France (+16%), Germany (+61%), and Poland (+42%). Outside the EU, exports dropped 2.5% to £107.6m, with gains to China (+100%), Malaysia (+416%), and Australia (+49%), while exports to the UAE and USA declined.

The report highlights shifting patterns in trade flows, reflecting both changing supplier markets and demand trends across the furniture sector.
