Decostar is on the eve of a busy period. In early December, the international home decoration wholesaler will launch its home show, entirely dedicated to the new autumn 2026 collection. Sietse Hoogstede reflects on a successful 2025 and looks ahead to what's coming.
"The year isn't quite over yet, but we can already look back with satisfaction," Sietse says from the restaurant area of the Dutch showroom in Apeldoorn . "2025 began with the Christmasworld fair in Frankfurt, which was immediately an important benchmark for us. How do customers respond to our collections? What trends are emerging in the world of home decoration? The reactions were very positive, and of course we're pleased with that."

The upcoming home show in Apeldoorn (The Netherlands) is an important moment for Decostar. "From 1 December, we will be presenting our autumn/winter 2026 collection, and for that we are doing extensive remodelling and decorating," explains Sietse. "It will be an inspiring showroom where our customers can gather ideas for the new season. We have high expectations for this collection."
Silk Flowers
One of Decostar's biggest commercial successes in recent years has been the strong growth of silk flowers. Hoogstede notes, "Our showroom area in Apeldoorn has recently tripled to over 600 m² for this category. Sales of silk flowers have been thriving for the past two years. The quality of the flowers has improved tremendously, which aligns with the trend of rising prices for fresh flowers."
According to Hoogstede, the market is shifting from fresh flowers to silk flowers. Silk flowers are becoming more affordable and of higher quality, making them an attractive alternative. Decostar is responding to this trend by improving not only the flowers themselves but also their presentation. "We offer beautiful display concepts, from racks to fully equipped departments in stores. Our customers can really see and feel the added value of the products here," he explains.
Trade Fairs
In addition to the home show, Decostar traditionally participates in major international trade fairs. Sietse is particularly looking forward to TrendSet in Munich, Trendz in Gorinchem, and Christmasworld in Frankfurt, where the company showcases its latest collections. "Trade fairs are always an important opportunity to connect with customers. We meet many international clients there who cannot always come to Apeldoorn. Moreover, trade fairs are the ideal place to see how the market reacts to the latest trends," he adds.

Decostar's digital transformation is in full swing. Sietse emphasizes the importance of their B2B webshop, which is increasingly becoming the hub of their business activities. "The webshop is not just a place to place orders, but also an important source of inspiration for our customers. We offer complete 'shop the look' concepts and themed atmospheres that retailers can apply directly in their own stores."
The user-friendly interface allows retailers to quickly place orders, view stock, and even check their order history. "We dedicate a lot of time and energy to improving the webshop. It has become a true portal where our customers can find everything from product information to seasonal items," he adds.
Looking Ahead
With the house show approaching and participation in major trade fairs, Decostar is looking to the future with confidence. Hoogstede concludes: "At Decostar, everything revolves around listening to our customers' wishes. We always strive to present a diverse collection with products that suit different styles. We are ready for the new season!"
