Aquinos Bedding Switzerland, a longstanding bedding manufacturer with brands such as Swissflex and Superba, has entered bankruptcy proceedings. The district court in Willisau, Switzerland, initiated the proceedings on October 31, 2025, following months of financial struggles and unpaid employee wages.

The company has been part of the Portuguese Aquinos Group since 2022, which had acquired it from Belgium's Recticel Group. The acquisition appears to have overextended the Portuguese parent company, which recently sold its Belgian subsidiary and faced insolvency in its German and Austrian operations. Production at the Netherlands subsidiary has reportedly been halted for months.
The future of Aquinos' brands remains uncertain. While names like Swissflex and Superba hold strong reputations in the European bedding market, potential buyers or strategies to continue operations have not been disclosed.
