DHL expands customer service with AI agents

DHL Supply Chain has partnered with AI startup Happy Robot to deploy autonomous AI agents, enhancing customer service across its operations. The AI agents currently handle hundreds of thousands of emails and millions of minutes of calls annually, supporting processes such as appointment scheduling, shipment tracking, and warehouse coordination.

By automating routine interactions, the technology allows DHL employees to focus on complex customer requests and strategic tasks. Early results indicate significant reductions in manual effort and faster response times.

Happy Robot's platform integrates seamlessly with DHL's internal systems and communicates via phone, email, and messaging apps. Following successful pilot implementations in multiple regions, DHL plans to expand the use of AI agents company-wide and explore additional applications.

The initiative reflects DHL's broader digital strategy, aiming to combine human expertise with AI-driven efficiency to improve operational performance and customer experience.
