Homeware sales decline ends three-week growth streak on UK high streets

Homeware sales on the UK high street fell for the week ending 2 November 2025, ending a three-week run of positive growth, according to the BDO High Street Sales Tracker. Total like-for-like (LFL) sales dipped by -1.95% in the homewares category, while store sales fell by -6.90%. Non-store homeware sales, however, remained positive for a second consecutive week, rising by +4.10%.

Overall, total store LFL sales increased by +3.35%, and total non-store LFL sales grew +8.30%, bolstered by strong online performance, particularly in fashion. BDO noted that non-store lifestyle returned to growth after five consecutive weeks of decline.

Footfall across the UK fell by -1.4% year-on-year, driven largely by a -4.7% decline on high streets. In contrast, shopping centres and retail parks saw modest increases in footfall of +2.1% each. BDO attributed the weak homeware performance in stores partly to unsettled weather, with cloudy skies, scattered showers, and breezy conditions affecting consumer visits.

Despite the decline in homeware sales, strong online growth and resilience in non-store channels helped offset weaker physical store performance.
