The Salone del Mobile.Milano announces the launch of Salone Raritas, a new exhibition space dedicated to limited edition design and high-end creative manufacturing, debuting at the 64th edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, from 21st to 26th April 2026 at Fiera Milano, Rho.

Salone Raritas – Curated icons, unique objects, and outsider pieces – marks the first direct interface between the worlds of special edition design, antiques, and fine craftsmanship, and the professional design market. The initiative brings together leading galleries and international design professionals on a curated platform designed to foster long-term relationships and generate new business opportunities.

Today, the Salone del Mobile.Milano presents Salone Raritas in London, introducing a project that represents a new frontier in collectible design and curatorial excellence.

A curatorial bridge between creativity and the market
Curated by Annalisa Rosso, Editorial Director and Cultural Events Advisor of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, and designed by Formafantasma, Salone Raritas was conceived to bridge the gap between highly skilled creative production and the contemporary B2B design market.

The exhibition will offer a select environment for galleries of excellence and the international design supply chain, architects, interior designers, developers, and hospitality professionals, to meet and exchange ideas. Here, the cultural value of unique and limited edition pieces will engage directly with the scale and ambition of major contemporary projects.

Exhibition design: a lantern of light and rhythm
The exhibition design by Formafantasma reimagines the fairground setting as a large architectural lantern, a porous, luminous landscape that highlights the uniqueness of each piece while maintaining visual harmony and rhythm. A defined colour and material palette ensures unity while allowing each exhibitor calibrated customisation and expression.

"We imagined Salone Raritas as a legible and permeable architectural landscape, a lantern that puts light and rhythm at the service of the pieces," explain Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of Formafantasma. "The design allows each gallery to express its identity while maintaining a collective narrative, designed for both visitor memorability and market effectiveness."

A new chapter for the collectible design sector
On the global stage, Salone Raritas signals a shift in contemporary design culture. Increasingly, international hospitality, residential, and retail developments integrate limited edition and collectible design as markers of identity and distinction. With this initiative, the Salone del Mobile.Milano positions itself at the forefront of this evolution, opening a new chapter in its dialogue with design, art, and craftsmanship.

"Salone Raritas was born from an awareness that is also a responsibility: to read the evolution of the international market and respond in a way that reflects the identity of the Salone del Mobile.Milano," said Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano.

"Our role has always been to stay ahead of the curve. Today, we do so by opening a new chapter dedicated to authorial design, research, and antiques – a fertile territory that interacts directly with the professional design system."

Porro continued:
"At a time when the professional world is focusing on uniqueness, content, and quality, Salone Raritas fully embodies the Salone's mission as an activator of international connections, visions, and languages. This project both honours our history and signals our openness to new scenarios, welcoming rare and high-end creative works into the very heart of the Salone."

Curating culture and commerce
"We have worked to build a new design, cultural, and commercial ecosystem that offers genuine opportunities for both exhibitors and visitors," said Annalisa Rosso.

"Salone Raritas heralds a new chapter for the collectible design segment, expanding its possibilities and fostering direct dialogue between worlds that, until recently, rarely intersected. The Salone continues to affirm its role as an institution capable of generating connections, perspectives, and new forms of shared growth."

Amplified by the global Salone ecosystem
Supported by the wider Salone del Mobile.Milano ecosystem, which attracts over 300,000 visitors from more than 160 countries and 5,200 international journalists each year, Salone Raritas multiplies the visibility and reach of a traditionally niche market. Within this new space, galleries will present their identities within a cohesive, curated narrative designed for both aesthetic impact and market engagement.

Configured in this way, Salone Raritas offers an immersive and distinctive experience in which unique pieces and limited series become accessible to a professional audience rarely united within the same space. Here, rarity ceases to be an exception and becomes a shared design language, reaffirming the Salone del Mobile.Milano not only as a commercial platform, but as a cultural infrastructure for contemporary design.
