Set against the serene backdrop of Himayat Sagar Lake, Summer House by Sona Reddy Studio emerges as an architectural poem that captures the essence of Hyderabad—a city where history and modernity harmoniously coexist. Spanning 8,350 square feet, this residence is both a retreat and a reflection, designed for siblings Akhila and Kaushik to experience domestic life as an immersive, sensory journey.

The home unfolds with quiet restraint: walls coated in pink lime plaster and floors of cool oxide establish a soft, grounding palette. Natural textures—aged metals, knotted jute, and rich woods—imbue the interiors with warmth, while spaces flow effortlessly from the lounge and dining area to the kitchen, connected by a deck that blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors. Sunlight dances through wooden pergolas, and the pool mirrors the shifting skies, evoking a meditative stillness throughout the property.

Distinctive details define the home: a sculptural pendant illuminates the double-height lounge, a red travertine island anchors the kitchen, and a gilt-finished spiral staircase ascends toward the mezzanine bar. Bedrooms range from sage serenity to slate-green drama, each enriched by handcrafted details and tactile materials.

"Summer House is more than a dwelling—it is a living sanctuary that celebrates slowness, light, and the poetry of everyday life," says Sona Reddy. Through this project, the studio has sculpted an atmosphere where architecture, memory, and light converse in unhurried rhythm, offering a timeless yet contemporary home that breathes with the life of its surroundings.
