JYSK Hungary to close stores on Christmas Eve for eighth consecutive year

For the eighth year in a row, JYSK Hungary will close all stores on 24 December, allowing employees to spend the holiday with their families. The decision reflects the company's focus on work-life balance and acknowledges the high demands of the Advent retail period. Stores will remain open on 22 and 23 December and reopen after the holidays on 27 December.

JYSK continues to expand in Hungary, operating 101 stores nationwide. The company reported sales of HUF 89 billion in the 2024/25 financial year, a 16.4% increase over the previous year, while customer numbers grew by 9.9%. This year marks JYSK's 20th anniversary in the Hungarian market.

Ágnes Nyeste, regional HR director, emphasised that the Christmas closure aligns with JYSK's commitment to employee wellbeing. She highlighted the company's recognition by Forbes, TIME, and Fortune as one of the world's best employers and noted that JYSK won the Top Employer award in Hungary for the third time in 2025.

The move reinforces JYSK's reputation as a company that balances professional development with employee satisfaction, demonstrating that strategic operational decisions can support both business growth and staff welfare.
