Hanstholm Køkken, the Danish kitchen manufacturer that went bankrupt in 2023, is expanding its strategy by offering production services to other Danish kitchen brands. The move aims to better utilise factory capacity and support the local industry.

Director Majken Pape explained that production for external partners could make up half of the company's activity within three years. Two collaborations are already underway, with more discussions ongoing. By 2028, the company aims for equal revenue from its own brand and subcontracted production.
The company's new strategy stems from its post-bankruptcy reconstruction under new owners Villy Jæger and Lars Gantzel Pedersen, with Pape owning 20% and leading management. Despite efforts, the company posted a DKK 4.2 million loss in its latest accounts, contributing to a total EBIT loss of DKK 10.1 million over two years.
Pape emphasised that local production attracts customers interested in Danish craftsmanship and provides apprenticeship opportunities for young people, a sector facing labor shortages. The strategy is expected to stabilise operations and strengthen Denmark's kitchen manufacturing industry overall.
