Humanscale, a global leader in ergonomic workspace solutions, has teamed up with Broadway Interiors to deliver mission-ready ergonomics for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in Dubai. The facility serves as the Command Control Centre for the UAE's flagship space programmes, including the Emirates Mars Mission, Lunar Mission, and the UAE Astronaut Programme.

The challenge was to create a workspace that supports extended periods of critical operations while enabling teams to maintain focus under high-pressure conditions. The resulting 10,000-square-foot environment combines futuristic minimalism with ergonomic precision. A disciplined palette of deep blues, blacks, and metallic tones evokes the vastness of space while reducing visual fatigue, while acoustic panels, ambient lighting, and carefully selected materials all contribute to enhancing cognitive clarity and comfort.
At the core of the space are Humanscale's Freedom and Liberty chairs, chosen for their ability to support healthy posture during long periods of concentration. Both models feature self-adjusting recline, synchronized armrests, and finishes that integrate seamlessly into the interior design. The Freedom chair offers executive ergonomic comfort, while the Liberty chair's mesh-backed design provides flexibility for prolonged use. During the prototyping phase, the chairs also played a crucial role in validating console spacing and sightlines, blending ergonomics with operational design.
According to Rashed Bilal Al Mas, Senior Manager at MBRSC, the ergonomic solutions have led to measurable benefits: "The chairs have reduced fatigue and supported better posture over long hours, enhancing overall productivity and well-being."
The project has earned international recognition, winning 'Best Public Service Interior' at the 2025 International Property Awards and 'Best Office Design' at the 2025 CID Awards, establishing the MBRSC Command Control Centre as a benchmark for high-performance work environments.
For Humanscale, the project reflects a core philosophy shared with Broadway Interiors: innovation begins with the human body. Performance relies on comfort, movement, and focus, especially in mission-critical contexts. Frazer Butcher, Managing Director for MENA at Humanscale, adds: "Ergonomics is often invisible, but it's what allows people to perform at their best. At MBRSC, thoughtful design and effortless comfort come together to empower precision at every moment."
Through projects like this, Humanscale continues to demonstrate how human-centered design and ergonomic innovation can transform workspaces into environments that maximize performance, health, and well-being — even in the most demanding settings.
