Le Klint introduces Softly Pleated, a new series of hand-folded felt lamps designed by long-time collaborator Philip Bro. The collection reinterprets the Danish brand's signature pleating tradition in a new material and scale, combining craftsmanship with modern ambience.

Softly Pleated blends a soft, warm glow with effective downward lighting, offering both functionality and atmosphere. "The lamps combine a soft, warm glow with effective downward lighting, contributing both functionality and ambience to any space," the company notes. Designed to integrate seamlessly into the Nordic lighting tradition, the lamps "offer high-quality functional illumination that feels both intimate and inviting."
The series represents "a respectful reinterpretation of Le Klint's well-known universe of hand-folded cross-pleats – now in an upscaled format and crafted from a durable felt material." Around the perforations, subtle accents appear where light softly glows through the felt, creating a warm and atmospheric effect.
Available in several sizes, Softly Pleated is suitable for both large and intimate interiors, from foyers and hotels to private homes and meeting rooms. The round model, Softly Pleated I – Model 164, recalls Kaare Klint's iconic Model 101 through its triangular pleating. It comes in small (Ø 42 cm, €478), medium (Ø 62 cm, €693), and x-large (Ø 94 cm, €1,344) sizes.
A second version, Softly Pleated II – Model 165, is offered exclusively through Le Klint's PRO Collection. This model features a geometric pleating pattern of square panels, "a design language also found in many of Le Klint's classic lamps, such as Model 1," and is referred to as the "classic version."
Softly Pleated was first presented at the Cabinetmakers' Autumn Exhibition in 2014 and is now being launched as one of Le Klint's key highlights for 2025. The release coincides with Philip Bro's 30th anniversary as a Le Klint designer.
From early folded lamps in the 1990s to the innovative UnderCover, Sunflower and Soleil collections, Bro has continuously redefined pleated lighting design. As Le Klint puts it, "Now, in 2025, it is time for Softly Pleated – familiar, yet completely new."
