Stoff Nagel revisits mid-century candleholders with AW25 brushed editions

"People seek out pieces with heritage that can be combined with vintage collectibles or heirlooms"

Stoff Nagel presents new Autumn/Winter 2025 editions of its candleholder collection, including brushed chrome versions of the Nagel, Quist, and BMF designs. The brand, which traces its origins to mid-century modular design, maintains its focus on sculptural forms that extend beyond traditional candleholder functionality.

"The vision has always been to transform the design from being perceived only as a candleholder to a sculptural and individual object, where candles can be added to the sculpture, but is not limited to this function," the company said.

The AW25 collection emphasises continuity with the original 1960s and 1970s designs, reintroducing pieces such as the bowl originally conceived as an ashtray. "We reintroduced it without any changes to the original design but marketed today as a decorative object," the company added. The new brushed chrome editions are intended to complement existing shiny chrome pieces, offering contrast in texture and reflectivity while retaining a uniform silver tone.

Revival of the Quist candleholder involved adapting original drawings to align with the Nagel stackable concept. "The timing felt right as people seek out pieces with heritage that they can combine with vintage collectibles or heirlooms," the company stated.

Sustainability is integrated into production through material selection, durability, and ethical manufacturing practices. "By reintroducing classic designs rather than constantly producing new trends, we embrace a more sustainable approach," the company noted.

Stoff Nagel identifies central and Northern Europe as its primary markets, with growing interest from Australia and South Korea. Trade fairs and digital platforms remain core to its strategy. "Trade fairs provide a physical space to present our universe; digital platforms allow ongoing dialogue with global audiences," the company explained.

Looking ahead, the brand plans to expand its candleholder collection with new colour editions, relaunches, and accessories, including a forthcoming LED candle edition. Collaborations are also part of its strategy, including a project with creative duo Anton+Aiguabella to produce photographic and video content emphasising candlelight aesthetics.
