TWOPAGES opens design process to global community of creatives

“We believe that creativity doesn’t belong only to professionals, it lives in everyone”

TWOPAGES is advancing an open design model that engages creatives in the curtain and window treatment sector. In a conversation with InteriorDaily.com, Ray Chen, founder and CEO of the company, discussed how this approach connects community-driven creativity with digital production systems and sustainable sourcing.

Ray explained that the company was established after identifying inefficiencies in the custom curtain market. "When I was decorating my own house, I discovered a number of problems with purchasing custom curtains: it was time-consuming, complex, and expensive," he said. "I began to think about how to make purchasing custom curtains more convenient, simple, high-quality, and affordable, and TWOPAGES was born."

Opening the design process
The company's recent Design Contest, launched in May 2025, invited global participation through social media and a transparent judging process. "We believe that creativity doesn't belong only to professionals, it lives in everyone," Ray said. "Inviting non-professional creatives allows us to capture real, human imagination, the way people live, decorate, and express themselves at home."

Submissions were evaluated through both online voting and a panel of design professionals. According to Ray, "The entire process was fair and transparent. Based on both social voting scores and judges' scores, we selected six designers from the semi-finals to advance to the finals." The final presentations took place in Los Angeles on 28 October.

Evaluating design and production
For Ray, emotional connection remains an important selection factor. "The designs that stood out weren't the ones that were the most technically advanced, they were the ones that told a story," he said. In assessing designs for production, TWOPAGES applies a framework that considers feasibility, market fit, and emotional appeal.

The company operates a self-managed production facility of nearly 200 employees, supported by an internal R&D department. "We develop resource management systems and production management systems to ensure that our personalised orders are produced in an orderly manner, and the entire production process is transparent, visible, and digital," Ray said.

Technology and sustainability
Technology, according to Ray, serves as an enabler for collaboration and traceability. "It allows us to create a true connection with our community by managing design submissions, providing feedback, voting, and communicating and producing efficiently and transparently," he said.

In the context of sustainability, Ray noted the company's long-term focus on responsible sourcing. "Our drapery fabrics are organically sourced from cotton, linen, hemp, and bamboo using natural and sustainable methods that reduce the impact on the environment," he said. "Some of our blended fabrics are recycled polyester fibres."

Collaboration and future direction
Ray emphasised that TWOPAGES' open design model aims to create opportunities for professional designers as well. "We aspire to connect with a wide range of designers, both established and emerging," he said. "The main challenge is learning to embrace openness, but the reward is a richer, more dynamic creative ecosystem."

Looking ahead, TWOPAGES plans to expand its product categories and customisation tools while maintaining a focus on iterative improvement. "We treat every piece of feedback as a chance to get better," Ray said. "The first customer might complain, the second should feel satisfied, and the third should be impressed. That's how progress happens."

Ray concluded that the company's direction is guided by ongoing dialogue with its users and partners. "We'll keep listening, to our users, our designers, and our partners. That's how TWOPAGES keeps growing, with them."
