Sweden's exports of goods fell in August, according to new figures from Statistics Sweden (SCB). The value of exports declined by 5 percent year-on-year and by 6 percent compared to July, while export volumes increased by 2 percent year-on-year but dropped 5 percent month-on-month.
Meanwhile, imports decreased by 3 percent in value but rose by 3 percent in volume year-on-year. Compared with July, imports increased by 2 percent in both value and volume.

Key details:
- Machinery and transport equipment exports fell 11 percent in value and 5 percent in volume, though passenger car exports increased slightly from July.
- On the import side, pharmaceutical products rose 12 percent in both value and volume compared with last year, while machinery and transport equipment imports gained 2 percent in value and 6 percent in volume.
The agency noted that August had two fewer working days than July, affecting monthly comparisons.
Revisions to 2024 data lowered total export figures by approximately SEK 1.4 billion and raised imports by SEK 1.1 billion, reducing the net trade balance by SEK 2.5 billion.
