Fire under control at Polish furniture factory after extensive blaze

Firefighters have successfully brought a major fire at a furniture factory in southern Poland under control following several hours of intense operations. The blaze, which erupted on Monday in the town of Sadów in the Silesian region, prompted authorities to advise local residents to keep windows closed as a precaution.

Forty-five fire crews were deployed to contain the flames, preventing them from spreading to neighbouring buildings. No injuries were reported. Łukasz Wołosz of the local fire district stated that "the situation is now under control, the fire is no longer spreading, but operations will continue for many more hours." Initial losses have been estimated at 3 million zloty, including 2 million zloty in damages to the building itself.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and authorities are expected to bring in a fire investigator to establish the origin of the blaze. The incident highlights ongoing safety challenges in industrial facilities and the importance of rapid emergency response in mitigating both property damage and risk to the surrounding community.
