Designer Marcel Wanders has paid tribute to Amsterdam, the city central to his creative journey, through projects that merge heritage, imagination and emotion. Inspired by the city's canals, museums and innovative spirit, Wanders led the creation of Rijks, Masters of the Golden Age, a monumental art book series celebrating Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age. 'If people cannot go to the paintings, then the paintings should go to them,' he said, reflecting his commitment to sharing art with the public during the Rijksmuseum's renovation.

Wanders also collaborated with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to redesign the World Business Class service and the VIP Centre at Schiphol Airport. The initiative combines over one hundred bespoke design elements, blending Delft Blue tradition with modern craftsmanship, while the VIP Centre enhances the travel experience with careful attention to light, materials and detail.
These projects mark enduring tributes to Amsterdam as it celebrates its 750th anniversary, highlighting the city's unique blend of tradition and innovation, and its role as a continuing source of inspiration for art and design.
