European e-commerce retailer Sklum has introduced the "HomeByMe Product Configurator" developed by Dassault Systèmes, transforming how consumers design and purchase furniture online. The interactive tool enables shoppers across more than ten countries to customise sofas, wardrobes and bathrooms in real time, adjusting materials, colours and sizes while viewing instant pricing updates.

Replacing traditional static catalogues, the configurator provides a dynamic 3D experience that allows customers to visualise products with lifelike precision before purchase. According to Oana Matei, Chief Marketing Officer at Sklum, 'Using a 3D web product configurator is attractive for consumers... helping us accelerate our e-commerce business and increase conversion rates.'
Sklum aims to expand the system across all product categories, strengthening its digital retail presence and enhancing customer satisfaction. Annabel Chaussat, CEO of 3DVIA at Dassault Systèmes, stated that "HomeByMe breaks down the limits of static images," offering modular configuration possibilities that promote consumer loyalty and brand differentiation.
The initiative aligns with findings that 95% of European households intend to use configurators to guide purchasing decisions, reflecting growing demand for interactive, personalised online shopping experiences.
