Belgrade recently hosted a landmark exhibition dedicated to the French architect and designer Jean Prouvé (1901–1984), widely recognised as one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. The event was presented by NITEA, the exclusive representative of Swiss company VITRA for 25 years, and took place at the Salon of the Belgrade City Museum from 7 to 11 October 2025.

A formal opening ceremony for the professional community was held on 8 October, followed by a lecture on Prouvé's oeuvre delivered on 9 October by architect and design manager Dr. Stine Liv Buur of VITRA, addressing students and architects.
Jean Prouvé was celebrated as "a visionary whose pioneering work seamlessly integrated architecture, engineering, and industrial design. Through the introduction of innovative construction principles, the inventive use of metal and wood, and a distinctive approach to colour, he created a singular legacy that profoundly shaped modern architecture and industrial design. His philosophy of rational and functional construction continues to inspire successive generations of architects and designers, maintaining particular relevance in today's discourse on sustainability and the interplay between space, technology, and society."
© Nitea | ProuveThe travelling exhibition offered visitors a rare opportunity to engage with Prouvé's work through original furniture pieces, scale models, and archival materials, providing "a comprehensive insight into his vision that harmonises technology, materials, and a humanistic design ethos." With this presentation, Belgrade joined the ranks of major global cities where Prouvé's work is critically examined and celebrated.
