According to the data, round dining tables lead search interest with 33,100 monthly searches, followed by wood (12,100), marble (9,900), and oval dining tables (9,900). However, extending dining tables, while receiving the same 9,900 monthly searches, dominate sales — accounting for 70% of all dining table shape purchases at Furniture Village.
"Once users start to shop around, they realise extending dining tables bring the best of both worlds – the silhouette of their dreams with a functional extension to fit all the family," the retailer explained.
When it comes to materials, ceramic dining tables outperform marble and wood in sales, making up 54% of purchases despite having fewer searches. Furniture Village attributes this to ceramic's combination of luxury appearance and durability, offering a low-maintenance alternative to marble.
Search trends also show many consumers begin looking for 2-seater dining tables (590 searches), yet 6-seater models make up 60% of dining set sales, reflecting a preference for practicality and entertaining space.
Overall, the findings suggest that while UK shoppers start their buying journey focused on style and aesthetics, they ultimately prioritise functionality and versatility when making their final purchase.
