A German fabric retail chain has entered insolvency under self-administration, prompting the closure of several stores. Branches in Wiesbaden and Bremen-Vegesack will shut at the end of November, while the Naumburg location will close in December, resulting in eleven job losses. Another store in Wilhelmshaven closed in mid-October due to staffing issues.

Previously, "Der Stoff"'s stores in Hamburg (Hallerstraße) and Dinslaken had already closed, leaving 33 of the original 39 outlets operational. Despite earlier reassurances to customers, financial pressures have forced these closures.
Locations in North Rhine-Westphalia remain unaffected for now, with the Essen branch recently reopening after relocating to the Kronenberg Center. Restructuring expert Eric Coordes, overseeing the recovery of Stoffhandels GmbH and Hemkon Stoff GmbH alongside CEO Dr Nina Konjer, stated that layoffs are expected to remain limited and insolvency proceedings may conclude by early 2026.
"Der Stoff" continues to serve customers, including online through its subsidiary stoffolino, with sales operations proceeding as usual. The company aims to return to full market operation once the proceedings are lifted.
