Danish designer furniture and interiors store postpones closure after cleanup

A Danish designer furniture and interiors store established in 1937, has postponed its planned closure following an extensive clean-up. Owner Willy Støckler had initially announced the closure in April 2025 after store manager Kim Christensen resigned, but the store will now remain open for a few additional days.

The business, Kollund Møbler, popular with Danish and German customers seeking high-end furniture, was put up for sale, with potential buyers still able to acquire the premises near Flensborg Fjord. The store building, constructed in stages between 1979 and 1981, replaced the original premises on Fjordvejen.

Kollund Møbler A/S has faced financial challenges in recent years. In 2024, it reported a post-tax loss of DKK 2.7 million, largely due to investments in its webshop. Previous years also saw smaller losses of DKK 321,132 in 2023 and DKK 10,865 in 2022, while 2021 recorded a post-tax profit of DKK 805,258.

The temporary extension offers the store a brief reprieve, but the future remains uncertain as the sale process continues, marking another chapter in the long history of this regional furniture business.
