British design firm faces sharp decline in sales

A kitchen and bedroom design company, has reported a significant drop in sales for the year ended 31 December 2024. Total sales fell 19% to £13.7 million, down from £16.9 million in 2023, according to the company's latest filed accounts.

Pre-tax profit for Roundhouse Design also declined sharply, falling to £58,000 from £975,000 the previous year. The company noted in its report that "turnover has decreased from £18.4m to £17.8m on a consolidated showroom basis."

The figures reflect ongoing challenges in the bespoke furnishing sector, where demand fluctuations and rising costs have weighed on performance. The decline at Roundhouse Design follows broader trends in the UK furniture market, which has experienced mixed consumer confidence and changing spending patterns in recent months.

While the company did not provide further commentary, the results highlight the financial pressures facing smaller design-led businesses amid an uncertain retail and economic environment.
