How the world’s leading textile fair anchors a changing industry:

Heimtextil 2026: AI, craft and colour

Against a backdrop of global uncertainty, Heimtextil 2026 positions itself as a strategic partner for the international home textile industry, uniting innovation, craftsmanship and artificial intelligence under the guiding theme "Lead the Change." From 13 to 16 January 2026, more than 3,100 exhibitors from 65 countries will gather in Frankfurt to present forward-looking textile design, trends and technologies that strengthen the sector through transformation.

"In challenging times, Heimtextil offers the industry a stability," says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles and Textile Technology. "Heimtextil translates social movements into tangible business opportunities. Together with the industry, it continuously evolves in line with market needs – in terms of content, strategy and structure. With the new hall layout, we create a business tool that increases visibility, strengthens synergies, brings supply and demand together in a targeted manner and opens up new markets."

Heimtextil 2026 introduces an optimised hall concept, aligning product groups to reflect the full spectrum of textile and non-textile interior design. The Texpertise Stage in Hall 6.0 will provide actionable insights, from customer engagement and differentiation to AI-driven design strategies.

At the core of the fair, Heimtextil Trends 26/27 explore the theme "Craft is a verb", merging traditional craftsmanship and AI-driven creativity. In collaboration with Alcova Milano, the Trend Arena in Hall 6.1 becomes a visionary hotspot where natural influences meet high-tech expression, inspiring both retail and contract sectors.

Renowned designer Patricia Urquiola adds a multisensory highlight with her immersive installation "among-all" in Hall 3.0, illustrating how AI design tools can enhance emotion, comfort and sustainability in textile interiors.

Across the fairgrounds, Heimtextil reinforces its position as the global hub for holistic interior design. In Hall 3.0, the Interior Design Concepts: Windows, Wall & Floor area unites textile and non-textile solutions, with leading brands such as Forest Group, Höpke, Marburger Tapetenfabrik, and York Wallcoverings.

The Sleep & Meet zone in Hall 4.0, developed with the German Mattress Industry Association, connects leading bedding brands including Auping, Brinkhaus, and Hüsler Nest with international buyers.

Meanwhile, the expanded Carpets & Rugs segment – now spanning four hall levels – joins the new Flooring & Equipment group to form a central platform for the global flooring market. Complementing this, Halls 3.1 and 4.1 will showcase the world's largest range of decorative and upholstery fabrics, featuring international names such as Sunbrella (France), Manuel Revert (Spain), and Vescom Velvets (Netherlands).

With Heimtextil 2026, Messe Frankfurt confirms its role as a stabilising force and catalyst for change, providing inspiration, market orientation and concrete business tools for the future of textile design and production.

Heimtextil 2026 will take place from 13–16 January in Frankfurt am Main.
