Bernards has announced the acquisition of Null Furniture

Bernards has announced the acquisition of Null Furniture, ensuring the continuation of the North Carolina company's celebrated designs in the marketplace. While the financial details remain undisclosed, Bernards confirmed it has assumed ownership of Null Furniture's inventory and intellectual property, safeguarding the legacy of a brand long recognised for its craftsmanship and occasional furniture collections.

Founded in the 1970s, Null Furniture was a family-owned business operated by co-owners Aaron Williams and Nina Sadowski, who grew up within the company. Earlier this autumn, the firm revealed plans to close operations and liquidate remaining inventory.

Bernards President Micah Swick explained how the acquisition came about through long-standing professional respect between the two companies, both of which shared showrooms in the Atrium on Main. "I knew Aaron and Nina to be good people with a good reputation. I also knew they have a strong occasional line. When I heard they were closing, we made an immediate decision to reach out," said Swick.

He added, "The timing is tight, but we will have most, if not all, of Null's product line on display in the Bernards showroom next week."

The move allows Bernards to expand its offering while preserving Null's design heritage for loyal customers and retailers. The Bernards showroom, located on the second floor of the Atrium on Main at 430 S. Main Street, will soon feature the full range of Null's products.

Null Furniture will continue processing orders through the end of October. From 1 November, all new orders will be handled directly by Bernards via [email protected].

The acquisition marks a significant moment for the American furniture industry, representing both continuity and adaptation in a changing market. By integrating Null's well-established designs into its own portfolio, Bernards reaffirms its commitment to heritage, design integrity, and customer trust.

This strategic move ensures that the Null Furniture legacy, rooted in family tradition, quality, and timeless design, will continue to thrive under Bernards' stewardship, offering retailers and consumers alike continued access to the brand's distinctive craftsmanship.
