Virginia Furniture Company was founded in 1939 by brothers Harry and Leonard Laibstain, and the family-owned retailer has been a fixture in Norfolk's furniture landscape, operating from several locations over the years, first on Church Street, then Downtown Plaza Shopping Centre, and most recently on Granby Street in the NEON District since 2005.

Current co-owners David and Jeff Laibstain, sons of the founders, confirmed that the business will close its doors on December 31, 2025, as they prepare to retire.

"We've been honoured to be part of so many homes and celebrations over the years," said David Laibstain. "Our customers have truly become part of our extended family, and we will miss them very much."

A Going Out of Business Sale is now underway, running through the end of the year or until stock is sold out. Shoppers can expect major discounts as the store winds down its final months.

Virginia Furniture Company is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 745 Granby Street, Norfolk.
