Ritzwell & Co. has played a defining role in the creation of a serene, functional home for the M family, who recently consolidated their lives from Tokyo and Fukuoka into a new residence in Kamakura. The couple's decision was driven by a desire to unify private life and work in a calmer, more harmonious setting, supported by carefully curated Ritzwell furniture.
"We enjoy using this furniture. We didn't look for it; it just happened to come our way. We think it was a fortunate encounter," the M family stated.

Mr. M, a mathematician and researcher, explained, "Living in two far-apart cities was sometimes quite challenging. Then, after the pandemic shifted everything toward remote work, I realized I could do my job from anywhere. About two years ago, I seriously started thinking about moving to Kamakura — a place I'd wanted to live for a long time."
Mrs. M added, "It's really difficult to have a spacious home in the city. So I thought Kamakura, where my husband had always wanted to live, could be a good compromise. I started searching online for a renovated old house that we might like." After missing out on their first choice, a visit to a local real estate agency led them to the perfect plot.
The couple's connection with Ritzwell began five years ago via an advertisement in SIGNATURE, Diners Club's member magazine, highlighting Ritzwell's Itoshima Seaside Factory and dedication to craftsmanship. Mrs. M recalled, "My husband had mentioned wanting a chair to relax in between work sessions. When I saw a photo of the RIVAGE chair in that article, I thought, 'Isn't this chair kind of wonderful?' and suggested it to him."
Their collection now features iconic Ritzwell pieces, including the RIVAGE Armchair and RIVAGE Easy Chair by ATELIER D.Q., alongside the DIANA 1 and 3 Seater Sofas by Shinsaku Miyamoto. Mrs. M reflected on the DIANA sofa: "It was so comfortable—even when I was lying down in a rather ungraceful position, it felt like I was being embraced. I wanted to get it for our renovated Fukuoka home, but we didn't have enough space, so we bought the single-seater instead of the three-seater."

Mr. M emphasised the furniture's understated elegance and comfort: "One of my lasting impressions of Ritzwell furniture is the sense of security it provides. It's not tiring to sit on, and I like the understated design. The sizing is just right — not too large. My positive first impression hasn't changed. I was especially surprised by how pleasant the RIVAGE armrests feel."
The DIANA 1 Seater Sofa has received international recognition, including the Good Design Award (Chicago Athenaeum, 2017) and a Special Mention at the German Design Awards (2019), reinforcing Ritzwell's reputation for timeless, high-quality design.
The M family's home demonstrates how deliberate choices, thoughtful encounters, and carefully selected furniture can harmoniously blend comfort, research, and beauty.
