'We wanted something immersive, something dimensional,' says Michele Ferrazzano, co-founder of Bottone, the Berlin-based design brand that blends craftsmanship with sound. Together with his brother Daniele, Michele has built a company that resonates, literally and figuratively, with the rhythm of modern living.
Music runs deep in their story. The brothers began as DJs in the 1990s, mixing hip-hop and R&B on turntables in their childhood bedroom. 'Music is in our DNA,' Michele reflects. 'We started selling mixtapes long before we knew anything about furniture.' Years later, when Michele left a career in automotive engineering and joined Daniele, an industrial designer educated in the Bauhaus tradition, and they sought to merge their worlds. In 2020, Michele became a partner at Studio DLF, a design studio for interior and product design and creative direction, founded by Daniele in 2009. After working successfully together, their latest creation was Bottone, founded by both brothers in 2024 as their second business entity, officially launched during Milano Design Week in 2024. A brand born from precision and poetry, where design meets emotion and every object has a voice.

The sound of furniture
'How does furniture sound?' became Bottone's founding question. Each product is connected to a unique soundscape created from the very materials it's made of. The Rivet chair, echoes with the metallic rhythm produced by tapping on its aluminum surface, while Filigrana, a sideboard of striking lightness, floats to an airy, melodic tune. 'We wanted to bring the ear into the brand's DNA,' says Michele. 'Design should engage every sense.'
Bottone's aesthetic lies at the intersection of German structure and Italian boldness, the brothers' dual heritage. Their Puglian roots emerge in colour and curvature, while their Berlin base anchors them in minimalism and precision. 'Bottone means "button" in Italian,' Michele explains. 'It connects two elements, just as we connect Germany and Italy, design and music, Daniele and me.'
Handcrafted in small series, Bottone's collection includes eight distinctive pieces, from Zooom Rug, designed by Haus Otto, a tactile rug that can also hang as an art object, to the sinuous In&Out chair by Daniele Luciano Ferrazzano and Artur de Menezes. Each product is more than a static object; it's an invitation to listen, touch and feel.

Bringing an unforgettable experience at IDD Cologne
This October, Bottone brings its multisensory vision to IDD Cologne, collaborating with long-time partners MBSY for the "Assembly" exhibition, curated and designed by Studio DLF at the Machwerkhaus. Visitors can expect a carefully orchestrated environment, 'a complete exhibition experience for the eyes, the ear and the hands,' as Michele puts it. Highlights include the Zooom rug, Rivet, Filigrana and In&Out designs, presented alongside other bold brands such as Hem, Baux, and Lammhults, within an installation featuring music, ambient light and a "blue room" for quiet immersion.
Besides the opening on Friday, October 23, and the open doors on Saturday, Sunday will host the main 'Assembly' event, an elegant fusion of community, comfort, and creativity. There will be coffee, conversation, and perhaps a gentle beat in the background. 'We want people to leave with a happy face,' says Michele. 'To feel that something is happening again in Cologne, that design can still move, surprise and connect us.'
With its blend of sound, design and soul, Bottone is pressing all the right buttons.
