Amsterdam-based interior architecture studio Heinzel De Vries has designed the new Et Claire Café on Schuttershofstraat, Antwerp, marking the luxury viennoiserie brand's second Belgian location. The opening follows the successful launch of the Et Claire flagship on Oudaan earlier this year.

Et Claire Café combines sophisticated takeaway coffee with artisanal pastries and treats, offering an ideal stop for shoppers and visitors in Antwerp's chic city centre. The interior reflects the brand's signature elegance while introducing a fresh, earthy colour palette. Warm brown tones replace the buttery yellow of the Oudaan café, creating an intimate, elegant atmosphere.
A sculptural staircase adds a striking architectural feature to the compact space, which is housed within a stairwell. The staircase and the ambiance inspired the choice of colour and materials, evoking the character of Milanese rooms. The designers enhanced this mood with glossy brown walls and a bar surfaced in honed marble with striking brown and yellow veining.
The Oudaan flagship, opened in spring 2025, introduced Belgian guests to Et Claire's all-day concept, featuring refined viennoiserie, champagne, fine wines, and light aperitifs. Heinzel De Vries translated the vision into a layered interior, where every curve and material reference the craft of dough lamination—from the éclair-shaped bar to the copper counter and mosaic flooring.
"Designing both Antwerp locations gave us the opportunity to tell two sides of the same story. Where the Oudaan location is golden yellow and lush, the Schuttershofstraat location is intimate and earthy. Yet they share the same sculptural language and attention to detail," said Tinka Heinzel and Barbara de Vries.
These projects confirm Heinzel De Vries' reputation for narrative design, seamlessly combining refined materials and spatial storytelling with hospitality. Their portfolio includes the Efteling Grand Hotel, Hotel de Blanke Top, the Dutch Museums Association headquarters, and Et Claire Amsterdam.
Et Claire Café on Schuttershofstraat offers a more intimate experience than the Oudaan flagship, providing the perfect coffee stop in the heart of Antwerp.
Et Claire Café is located at Schuttershofstraat 11, Antwerp, Belgium.
